Benidorm will vote in the extraordinary plenary session the adjudication of the cleaning of the dependencies
In the same plenary session, 2.5 million euros will be proposed to advance, if necessary, the payment of the debt with the Water Consortium, now pro-rated
The municipal corporation of Benidorm will vote next Thursday in an extraordinary plenary the award of the service contract of cleaning and basic maintenance of municipal offices and educational centers. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilwoman of Treasury and Contractin, Lourdes Caselles, have informed that this extraordinary session will have two other points: beginning the procedures for the temporary hiring of ten temporary agents of the Local Police, and the approval of a Extrajudicial credit recognition. These three points have been discussed this Friday in the Board of Spokespersons and will be pronounced on Monday in an informative committee.
In relation to the cleaning and maintenance service of municipal offices and educational centers, the proposal includes the award of the contract to OHL Servicios, which offered the most advantageous offer for an annual amount of 1,492,813.65 euros. This contract lasts for four years, with the possibility of expanding two others.
Likewise, the corporation must vote on the proposal of Councilor for Human Resources, Jesús Carrobles, to declare the "urgency and exceptional and unforeseeable necessity of proceeding to cover for six months ten local police agent position, acting interim." The counciman explained that this is the police reinforcement that is carried out mainly in the face of Easter and summer.
Finally, the plenary will deal with an extra-judicial credit recognition of 2.6 million euros. The bulk of that amount, slightly more than 2.5 million euros, is related to the debt with the Consorcio de Aguas de la Marina Baixa. Caselles recalled that in 2013 a payment schedule was approved for all municipalities in the region to settle their debt with the water management agency in a maximum period of 10 years. Since then Benidorm has fulfilled its payments at a rate of about 400,000 euros per year, and the outstanding debt - to be paid periodically until 2023 - amounts to just over 2.5 million.
With this extrajudicial recognition, "it is sought to release that money in case it is necessary to advance the payment of the debt to the Consortium." The mayor has qualified that this advance payment will only be made in case the entity requires resources to make investments. The mayor, for his part, stressed that Benidorm is ready to deal with this debt in advance and "if necessary" thanks to "the economic management that is being carried out."
