The objective of these measures is to increase pedestrian safety, and improve accessibility and mobility in the area

Benidorm will pave several streets in Rincón de Loix and will create new sidewalks on Sierra Dorada street up to the entrance to the Natural Park

González de Zárate points out that throughout this year "the neighborhood will have been completely renovated"

Benidorm City Council will begin paving several streets in Rincón de Loix in the coming days, as soon as the rainy season allows it, and will undertake other actions in the neighborhood to improve mobility and accessibility for people and their protection against vehicles. Specifically, new sidewalks will be created on Sierra Dorada Street that will facilitate access to the roundabout on Pekin Street.

Given the imminent start of these works, the 'A pie de Calle campaign has traveled to this area with the mayor Toni Pérez and the councilors for Citizenship Participation and Public Space, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate, together with the vice president of the Neighborhood Council, Antonio Zamora.

In situ, González de Zárate indicated that the intervention should have started already "but the onset of rain, which is very beneficial for the city, has prevented it, and if there are no setbacks it will do so next week."

Thus, the mayor referred to the neighborhood demand to improve the roadway of the existing intersection in the streets of Amsterdam, Berlin, and Stockholm "which has poor visibility and accidents occur." At that point "we will increase the sidewalks to gain pedestrian safety and at the same time the road will be narrowed a bit and that block will be paved, thus reducing the speed of cars."

On the other hand, action will also be taken on Sierra Dorada Street "to give protection to the neighbors, residents and also to all those who visit the natural park, which is many every day." In many sections of this street, there is no sidewalk and only a horizontal signaling that indicates where pedestrians travel, without any physical barrier with vehicles. "With this action, sidewalks will be implemented in all sections so that from Ametlla de Mar on the beach to the roundabout on Calle Peking the street will be 100% accessible and safe for pedestrians" González de Zárate has detailed.

The mayor highlighted that Rincón de Loix "is a priority neighborhood" and has stressed that action is also underway "in a very important work on Montecarlo street", in addition to the park and ride and a new roundabout on Ciudad Real street.

"And also at the junction of Derramador with Bernat de Sarriá with another roundabout and another car park" added the councilor.

In his opinion, as he has insisted, "We are acting and we have done so in recent months, throughout the Rincón de Loix so that throughout this year 2023 the entire neighborhood will be completely renovated from Ametlla de Mar to the street Vienna”.
