The plenary will vote tomorrow on the proposal of the Board of Spokespersons

Benidorm will nominate a street in El Campo neighborhood with the name 'Mayor Agustín Navarro Alvado'

30 January 2022
Benidorm nominará una calle del barrio de El Campo con el nombre ‘Alcalde Agustín Navarro Alvado’

Benidorm City Council will nominate a street in El Campo neighborhood with the name 'Mayor Agustín Navarro Alvado', in tribute to the politician who died in February of last year. The proposal of the Board of Spokespersons will be voted on tomorrow in plenary session and with it "the figure and contribution" to the city of Agustín Navarro, "jovial and affable person, in love with Benidorm and its island", and who exercised as a mayor from September 22, 2009 to June 13, 2015, thus fulfilling, in his own words, "the greatest aspiration in politics for someone who loves his city."

The proposal contemplates giving the name of 'Mayor Agustín Navarro Alvado' to the current Amanecer street, located in the neighborhood of El Campo, the neighborhood that saw him born, to which "throughout his life he was always closely linked" and "since who in his childhood and youth experienced first-hand the transformation of the city that ended up becoming the European capital of sun and beach tourism”.

Councilor of Benidorm City Council in the 1991-1995 legislature, between 2003 and 2009 he was in charge of the Spokesperson for the Socialist Municipal Group until his arrival at the Mayor's Office. In addition to holding different organic positions in PSPV-PSOE, Navarro was a provincial deputy in the 2007-2009 period and in the 2015-2019 administration.
