Benidorm will host the 1st Vicente Devesa Such Youth Football Tournament on May 1st.

The newly founded Calvari sports club, in collaboration with Benidorm City Council and CF Benidorm, has organised the first 'Vicente Devesa Such' Youth Football Tournament, which will take place on May 1st at the Hermanos Martínez Munuera municipal fields. The event was presented today at a press conference by Sports Councillor Javier Jordá, the club's president, Javier Orobengoa, and José Santiago, a person closely linked to local soccer and a friend of Vicente Devesa.
Jordá expressed his gratitude for the initiative "because it is a thoughtful gesture for the city and promotes Benidorm's youth soccer in what will be a day of sport and socialising." The councillor invited "everyone to come and witness this first tournament."
The sporting event will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until 7:00 p.m. with the trophy presentation. Sixteen teams from across the Valencian Community will participate, divided into four groups of four. The top two teams from each group will compete in the Gold Phase, and the bottom two in the Silver Phase. From there, the semifinalists, finalists, and winners of each phase will be selected, ensuring that each team will play at least four matches. Matches will last half an hour, with two 15-minute halves.
Both Orobengoa and Santiago emphasised "Vicente Devesa's strong connection with local football, his great passion for the sport, and that's why we want to invite everyone to celebrate the legacy he left us with his passing." "It's a tournament with special meaning because we're holding it in memory of our colleague and friend, whose dedication and passion for football left an indelible mark," they stated.
