The plenary session will vote on Monday a motion by the mayor of Education to request the creation of a negotiating table with the most representative sectors of the educational community

Benidorm will demand that the Consell desist from the decree that endangers the School Psychopedagogical Services

Benidorm reclamarà al Consell que desistisca del decret que fa perillar els Servicis Psicopedagògics Escolars...

Benidorm City Council is going to demand that the Consell withdraw "the project to organize the educational and professional orientation of the Valencian educational system" that endangers the current School Psychopedagogical Services (the PES). The plenary session of the Corporation will vote this Monday, April 26, a motion by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, in which, in addition to asking the Valencian government to desist from the project, the Generalitat is urged to create "a table of negotiation ”with“ the most representative sectors of the educational community to seek a consensus that guarantees a quality and inclusive education ”.

As stated in the motion, “it is evident that the project prepared by the Generalitat Valenciana has produced a rejection by a very important part of the educational community, teaching unions, professional associations, organizations related to groups with specific needs, the mothers movement and parents of the students ”; as well as the SPE themselves, “those most directly affected”.

Moreno recalled that the PES are made up of "counselors, speech therapists, social workers and educators." This group of professionals "serves the educational centers in their area of influence, carrying out a direct intervention with the students who have a specific need for educational support and compensation for inequalities, at the same time as advising families and teachers."

In the case of the Marina Baixa, the educational guidance network "has been established for decades in the so-called SPE A5, which is based in Altea." This large multidisciplinary team "provides complementary specialized care to the educational centers of our region, with a high level of satisfaction".

The councilor explained that "the draft decree put on the table by the Consell is generating concern among professionals in the educational field, given the possible setback in educational inclusion that the new model may cause, and this has been transferred to us." Hence, “we demand that the Government of the Generalitat listen to all the parties involved, many of which are committed to a mixed model in which the figure of the counselor in certain centers is combined with coordination and advice at the regional level through the SPE ”.
