Benidorm on the verge of intervention due to its disastrous handling of the Sierra Helada case

VOX Benidorm denounces Mayor Toni Pérez's disastrous management of the legal/urban planning dispute over the protected land in Sierra Helada Natural Park, which has been ongoing for years between the Benidorm City Council and the Murcia-Puchades family. The rejection of the appeal filed by the City Council before the Supreme Court upholds the previous ruling ordering the City Council to pay nearly €350 million. VOX Benidorm's General Assembly believes this ruling is a direct consequence of years of mismanagement, incompetence, and lack of dialogue by the Popular political party government.

First, he insisted that the urban planning agreement signed with the owners was invalid and unilaterally terminated it, without offering any compensation.

When there was still room for negotiation, he publicly ignored the Puchades family's proposals for dialogue.

Today, Benidorm faces a payment of almost €350 million that seriously jeopardizes the financial stability of the City Council and could force state intervention.

"This debt will cost each person in Benidorm around €4,500. In households where there are four, it's up to them to count," said Miguel San Martin.

Given this situation, VOX Benidorm is awaiting a meeting with the city council's legal team to analyze all possible legal and political avenues to defend the general interest of Benidorm residents.
