The president of the organization and members of the board conveyed to the mayor some of the planned actions, including the scheduling of concerts

Benidorm Unión Musical is moving forward with proposals to celebrate its 100th anniversary

26 February 2026
La Unión Musical de Benidorm avanza en las propuestas para celebrar sus 100 años de historia

Benidorm Unión Musical band is finalising its program for the centenary celebrations of its founding in 2026. While concerts will play a central role, the program will also include other cultural and social activities designed to engage the entire community. The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, held a working meeting with the president of the Musical Union, Mari Carmen García; other members of the board of directors; and the Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez. During the meeting, representatives of the organisation presented their main proposals for the program.

The Mayor noted that “the history of the Benidorm Unión Musical is also the history of Benidorm, a city where music and musicians have always played a prominent role as transmitters of culture and traditions.” He also recalled that Benidorm “has produced great performers who are a benchmark both within and beyond our borders.”

Founded on June 3, 1926, initially under the name of Benidorm Philharmonic, the UMB (Unión Musical Benidormense) plans to commemorate this anniversary with several concerts, an exhibition on its one hundred years of history, the unveiling of new symbols and sections within the organisation, and the premiere of several musical compositions commissioned specifically for the occasion. Among these is the work ‘Caminant cap al Centenari’, composed by Carcaixent-born musician and composer Fran J. Cogollos, which premiered last December after winning the Extraordinary Composition Competition for Symphonic Band organised by the Unión Musical to mark the centenary.

Toni Pérez conveyed the full support of Benidorm City Council to the president of the UMB and wished every success to all the events planned for this centenary.
