The work, already started, will improve safety, eliminate barriers and facilitate access for people with reduced mobility
Benidorm undertakes the improvement of the public transport stop on Langreo street
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Mobility, is executing improvement works of the public transport stop on Langreo street, next to Bali hotel, one of the most important stops in the city.
This stop, which has a high pedestrian traffic, presented "lack of accommodation for passengers in relation to the width of the sidewalk, boarding and disembarking area and there was also a lack of tactile signaling pavement for people with visual difficulties", according to the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, who also specified the "lack of waiting and rest spaces for these people."
The intervention also aims to "improve security, eliminate barriers, facilitate access and conditions for people with reduced mobility and other people on foot," said González de Zárate.
Likewise, due to the current health situation, this improvement of the public space will allow increasing social distance and coexistence among users.
The planned actions include "increasing the length of the stop, improving the stopping area, expanding the surface and making it more comfortable and less dangerous." In addition, the councillor added "the stop will be adapted to people with reduced mobility, the area and access to it will be repaved with tactile paving and direction for people with visual difficulties, urban furniture will be installed for waiting accommodation".
All this will be accompanied by other complementary actions such as the foundations for the installation of new canopies or the pipes for various spaces.
