The equipment, propelled by electrical energy, is highly silent and will be used to reinforce night washing and to clean emblematic areas of the city.
Benidorm tests a new high pressure hydro-sweeper
The Councilor for Cleaning José Ramón González de Zárate, has reported today on the tests that are being carried out with a new high-pressure hybrid-sweeping vehicle of maximum sustainability and innovation.
It is a pure electric vehicle, Renault Master ZE that has a hydro-cleaning system -also electric- equipped with a 450-liter water tank and high-pressure equipment powered by a 24 V and 50,000 Wh battery pack. The vehicle itself has a maximum power of 57 kW, with an electric power consumption of 210 Wh / km and an electric range of 193 km.
González de Zárate has highlighted that due to its characteristics "it will be used to reinforce the night-time washing in the Old Town, El Calvari area and pedestrian area of the city", where pressure cleaning is used to improve the traditional washing.
At the same time, confirmed the councilor, it will be used in daytime operations where this reinforcement is necessary. The system is capable of using water with all kinds of disinfectant products in its urban tasks.
Finally, explained González de Zárate, the City Council "is testing this new equipment and is in contact with the manufacturer to implement improvements to it and the high pressure flushing system".
Benidorm is firmly and decisively committed to the use of vehicles and equipment without atmospheric engines to contribute to the fulfillment of ODS13, Action for the climate and to reduce as much as possible any possible emission of gases into the atmosphere.
