Benidorm tenders the renovation works of Polop Street
Benidorm City Council has tendered the renovation works on Polop Street, valued at about 143,000 euros to update the water infrastructure of this road and improve its aesthetics and image. The Councilor for Works and Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate, has informed that for the execution of these works a subsidy of 125,000 euros has been received - the full amount requested - from the Provincial Council of Alicante, which thus assumes more than 85% of the cost of the project. The remaining 17,000 euros will come from the municipal budget, which included this renovation work.
De Zárate recalled that with this action “the City Council collects the request made for a long time by the residents of this street, very close to the TRAM station through which hundreds of passengers pass by,” and that it is also located next to one of the main entrances to Benidorm: Beniardá Avenue. "We talked - he added - of a pedestrian street with very worn pavement and in which the water infrastructure of both sewage and rainwater are in very poor condition or are insufficient, which causes for example small floods when it rains with some intensity" .
As detailed by the mayor, with this action "all water, sewerage and rainwater networks, as well as the pavement will be renovated." In addition, it will take advantage "to also update the electrical installation and new technologies." "It is, therefore, an important improvement in an important neighborhood such as Colonia Madrid," he added.
The councillor has informed that the period for the presentation of offers is open until December 16, so the work could be awarded before the end of the month “and be finished for the Holy Week, since it has a period of three month execution ”.
