Benidorm takes to the street the awareness on gender violence with a show of posters of Pere Mª Orts i Bosch IES students
For the second consecutive year, the Councilors of Culture and Equality of Benidorm City Council have designed an exhibition with posters on gender violence prepared by the students of the 2nd year of the Artistic Baccalaureate of the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch to raise awareness about this social scourge . An exhibition that, on this occasion, will also reach the streets of Benidorm, when exhibiting the works in the Espai d'Art Los Carrascos and also in the 'muppis' installed in the main roads of the city.
This has been highlighted today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilors of Culture and Equality, Ana Pellicer and Paquita Ripoll, during the opening of the exhibition in the Espai d'Art of the City Council, which also involved members of the municipal corporation; the director of the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, Antonio García; the teacher of Ginés Lloret center; and Artistic Baccalaureate students who have made the posters. In total, the show consists of 27 posters designed by 24 students.
The mayor explained that with this exhibition "young people very prepared and with a special sensitivity transfer to society a message of awareness and 'zero tolerance' against gender violence" with works of "superb artistic quality." After noting that this show also serves to "boost the activity of IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch", Pérez said that "while there is a battered woman, we have a responsibility and an obligation: to work together, especially young people, to let them know to the world that Benidorm is a municipality where violence has no place ".
The Councilor for Culture has had an impact on the suitability of reflecting on gender violence "from the earliest ages" and addressing possible solutions from the "educational and cultural" spheres. Pellicer has transferred to students "all the support of the City Council to make visible the concern and reflection on this scourge." For her part, the councillor of Equality, noted that students "have managed to capture the different faces of violence against women with great creativity," and added that this show meets the "dual role of prevention and awareness" .
The director of the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch has indicated that to elaborate each year an exhibition on this same subject will allow "to see how the perception" of the successive generations of students evolves before the gender violence attending "the typology of the posters and the messages". Professor Ginés Lloret thanked the City Council for its involvement in "making visible the work, creativity and concern" of these young people facing a reality that should not occur. In this sense, the students have ensured that "education is the basic pillar to eradicate" sexist violence, which "is very current and very present in different areas."
'Cartells against gender violence' will be exhibited in different spaces until next March 8. Subsequently, the show will be exhibited in all the IES of Benidorm.
