The Strategic Environmental Assessment Commission reports favorably on the timely modification number 20 of the PGOU to allow the installation of advertising on dividing walls
Benidorm takes the first step to unlock the advertising ordinance
The opinion will be published in the DOCV after which the urban planning process will begin
Benidorm City Council has taken the first step to unlock the approval of the municipal publicity ordinance, drafted by municipal experts and is currently suspended pending the adaptation of the General Urban Plan (PGOU) to that normative text.
The Councilor for Urban Development, Lourdes Caselles, recalled that "it is necessary to adapt the General Plan to allow publicity on the dividing walls of buildings, since the current text does not allow it." In order to be able to operate this change "we must promote a specific modification of the General Plan, which is exactly what we are doing"; a procedure that can be completed in full municipal headquarters to be detailed management.
"In fact, this morning the Strategic Environmental Assessment Commission - a body chaired by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and of which technicians from different municipal areas are part - has issued an environmental report favorable to the proposed amendment, which will now be submitted to information public for a period of 45 days in the Official Gazette of the Valencian Community ", detailed the mayor.
In parallel, and while the environmental report is exposed to the public, "it will be necessary to fully carry out the urban planning of the specific modification for its initial approval and submission also to public information." Once resolved the possible allegations, it will also be the plenary session that gives the final green light to this modification, thus unblocking the approval of the advertising ordinance.
Caselles pointed out that this specific modification number 20 of the General Plan also affects the implementation of gas stations, electric energy recharging stations and natural gas supply stations, which until now have been prohibited in urban or urbanized land.
The person in charge of Urbanism remembered that in origin this modification also included to extend the commercial axes of Benidorm to allow the opening of commercial establishments and of restoration in the cellars and the first plants in more streets of the city. However, last February, within the Council of Urban Scene, it was decided last February it was decided to divide in two that modification to address on the one hand the expansion of commercial axes; and on the other, the advertising ordinance and the implementation of power stations.
In this way, she clarified, "we streamline these last two matters, since we can solve them entirely in the City Council without having to wait for the approval of the Ministry, which is the one that should endorse and ultimately make everything related to the commercial axes and the opening of shops and restaurants on the first floors ".
