The Local Police tests with a drone a new traffic control software for emergencies
300 Secondary students of Benidorm learn how to face a traffic accident
The Children's Traffic Park of Benidorm has been the scene of a simulation of a traffic accident where, before the watchful eye of 300 ESO students of IES Bernat de Sarrià and Nuestra Señora de los Dolores School. The objective of the operation is to publicize the Protocol of Action in case of traffic accident, PAS: Protect, Warn and Help. The event was attended by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the councilor of Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate; representatives of other municipal groups and the heads of the local police of Alfàs del Pi, Callosa d'En Sarrià, Polop and La Nucia.
In the simulation, a dozen agents of the Local Police of Benidorm participated, a donation of the Regional Park of Firemen of Marina Baixa, together with Red Cross and Civil Protection personnel. In the preparation of the stage the students of the second year of Basic Vocational Training of Aesthetics of IES Beatriu Fajardo de Mendoza collaborated.
The simulation was followed and recorded from the air through one of the drones of the Local Police of Benidorm to test a new geolocation software. With it, police officers, in case of accidents, could assess more effectively the situation of road traffic and the possible saturation of public roads to prevent a possible collapse of traffic. It would also facilitate access to emergency units that are coordinated through the number 112.
The exercise recreated the accident of a pedestrian passing through a zebra crossing looking at the mobile phone with headphones on that is run over by a cyclist without a helmet, with another music receiver in his ears. In the accident involved a vehicle, occupied by two people without the safety belt, before the mishap makes a forced maneuver and crashes into a tree. The action of the security forces begins when the call is received in 112. The Local Police marks the perimeter, controls traffic and is assisted at all times by Civil Protection. The firemen prevent the car from fire, extract the passengers and put them at the disposal of the Red Cross.
This type of drills that are periodically carried out in the Children's Traffic Park, has as its objective the coordination, the setting up of emergency services and also to make students aware of the importance of compliance with traffic regulations to avoid situations such as those that today, that even being simulated, have lived the students of Benidorm.
