Benidorm starts a new 'Asphalt Operation' in Alfredo Corral, the upper area of l'Aigüera and Maravall street
Benidorm City Council begins tomorrow a series of asphalting actions in some parts of the city where the road is damaged. This 'Operation Asphalt' will focus on Alfredo Corral area, in the upper part of Avenida de l'Aigüera, and on Maravall Street.
The proceedings will begin tomorrow Thursday and will be completed "over the next week" as specified by the Councilor for Mobility and Urban Scene, José Ramón González de Zárate.
In the case of Avenida de l'Aigüera, the action will be carried out at the height of San Marcos and Santo Tomás streets "so that vehicles from that area can have access to the avenue". As explained by the mayor “It is a claim that the neighbors have claimed and now they are given a solution. In addition, it will also improve pedestrian mobility.
The works will cover, in principle, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. tomorrow with the milling of the road, and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday with the definitive asphalting. On Thursday, access to residents and the passage of the bus will be allowed, while on Friday the cut will be total during the hours that the work lasts.
In Alfredo Corral Street, the asphalting will be carried out at Neptuno Square, where actions of the Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) have been carried out. "The road is going to be left as a single platform at the confluence of the square with Maravall and Almendros streets, with which there will be a pedestrian priority and we achieve a notable improvement in accessibility," the mayor indicated.
It is planned to carry out the milling from 12:00 to 16:00 tomorrow, without cutting traffic, and on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to undertake the asphalting with traffic closed until approximately 6:00 p.m.
Regarding Maravall Street, González de Zárate has pointed out that action will be taken “at points where the asphalt is very deteriorated, specifically in the section that goes from Marqués de Comillas Street to Neptuno Square. In this case, the work will take place from Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 May with occasional traffic cuts depending on the sections in which asphalt is being paved.
"The Department of Urban Scene ask the neighbors, residents, and drivers for patience while these tasks last, which will be of great benefit to them and to the city, which will have a very important change of image," said González de Zárate.
These asphalt works are part of the action to improve mobility and accessibility in the south of Jaime I Avenue. The works, framed in the EDUSI of Benidorm, have a total investment amounting to €1,052,591.96, of which the European Union contributes 40% through FEDER funds.
