The people of Benidorm demonstrated their deep devotion to their patron saint, the Virgin of Suffrage, yesterday afternoon during the Mass that concluded the Septenary of the Virgin, one of the events commemorating the Centenary of her Coronation, in which all the city's parishes participated. The religious ceremony, accompanied by the inter-parish group V Vicaría, was officiated by Jaume Benaloy and attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez, numerous members of the local council, regional deputies Manuel Pérez Fenoll and José Ramón González de Zárate, the president of the Centenary Commission, Pepa Orozco, the president of the Patron Saint Festival Commission, Ramón Cano, the queens Laura Ivars and Carmen Guillem and their court of honour, and a large number of the faithful who filled the Church of San Jaime.

The Mass began at 7:00 PM, and an hour later, the mayor and the parish priest of San Jaime, Juan Antonio González, carried the statue of Our Lady from its chapel to the main altar of the church to begin the Prayer Vigil before the original image of the patroness saint. Hundreds of the faithful attended.

Today, Saturday, the doors of the Church of San Jaime opened at 9:00 AM, and an hour later, a Mass was celebrated in honour of the Virgin. At 10:30 AM, the presentation of children to Our Lady of Suffrage took place, and at noon, the Angelus was recited. In the afternoon, at 5:00 PM, the Rosary was prayed in remembrance of the deceased of Benidorm, and at 6:00 PM, another Mass was celebrated. At 7:00 PM, another Mass was celebrated, and at its conclusion, the Saturday devotion in honour of the patron saint was recited. Afterwards, a small brooch in the shape of a crown will be presented to the Virgin to reaffirm the affection and devotion of the people of Benidorm on the centenary of her proclamation and coronation as patroness saint.
