The City Council publishes an edict with the measures for the management and use of the sandbanks

Benidorm sets the opening hours of the beaches and coves: from 07:00 to 22:30

14 May 2021
Benidorm fija el horario de apertura de las playas y calas: desde las 07.00 a las 22.30 horas

Benidorm City Council has published today a new edict in which the activity and use of beaches and coves of the municipality is adapted to the “evolution of the current health crisis situation”, at the end of the state of alarm and the state and regional regulation in force, maintaining the subdivision of the sandy areas to guarantee the safety distance between users. The main novelty included refers to "bathing and staying hours on the beaches and coves", which "in general" will be "from 07.00 to 22.30".

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has indicated that “with the measures included in this section, we continue to guarantee, as we have done since June last year, that our beaches are safe and that all those who wish to can enjoy them in the best conditions and with total comfort ”.

To guarantee "the minimum safety distance established by the regulations, the subdivision system is maintained on Levante, Poniente and Mal beaches, which was recovered on March 1". Thus, the sandy areas of the three beaches are divided into plots of 16 square meters, which can be occupied by a maximum of 4 people, and can be increased to five if one of them is under 6 years of age.

The entrance to the beaches and coves will be carried out only through the authorized places, recommending that users wear footwear adapted to the surface to be traveled - walkways, ramps, etc.-. Access to the bathing area must also be made through the areas set up for this purpose.

You can walk along the shore of the beach keeping the minimum safety distance of 1.5 meters, the use of a mask being mandatory, as established by the Resolution of May 8, 2021, of the Councilor for Universal Health and Public Health. For these walks a strip of 6 meters from the shore is established, in which only those under 10 years of age can remain seated, lying down or immobile.

The safety distance of 1.5 meters must also be maintained at the crossroads with other users or non-living groups, both in the bathing area and on the sand.

Sports practice is authorized in the areas permanently enabled for beach volleyball and beach soccer; while the use of footbaths is limited when leaving the beach.

The mayor has indicated that "we are convinced that beach users will continue to display the same responsible behavior that they have shown at all times since our beaches were reopened in mid-June of last year."
