Benidorm regresa este fin de semana al Medievo

Tomorrow the granting of the Charter of Poblament will be performed

Benidorm returns this weekend to the medieval period coinciding with the commemoration of the 693 anniversary of the granting of the Charter of Population on May 8, 1325 from the hands of Almirall Bernat de Sarrià, which was the foundation of the city. To set the mood for the city, for the third consecutive year a Medieval Market with almost a hundred stalls has been set up in Elche Park.

A market organized by the Independent Association of Merchants of Benidorm and Province (AICO), with the collaboration of the City Council through the Department of Commerce and Festivities, and which has officially opened this afternoon with the presence of the councillors of both areas, Ana Pellicer and Jesús Carrobles; members of the municipal corporation; the president of the merchants, Raúl Parra; the Queen of the Major Festivities, Fátima Carrobles; and the ladies of her court of honor and of the infantile one; the president of the Comissió, Paco Marín; and his counterpart of l'Associació de Penyes, Dani Luque.

In addition to craft stalls and local products, the Medieval Market has a restaurant area and throughout the weekend will host various activities for children like games and animations every 20 minutes, music groups that will encourage the environment, shows circus, acrobats and recreation companies.

The opening of this Medieval Market, which can be visited until Sunday night, is the prelude to the central act of the cultural week that commemorates the founding of Benidorm and will take place tomorrow Saturday at 9.00 pm: the symbolic representation of the granting of the Letter of Population. This representation that already adds 26 years will be held in the Plaza de San Jaime. The act will count as a maintainer with the professor of the University of Valencia Teresa Orozco, specialist in Prehistory.
