The Generalitat must assess the application and resolve the amount of the grant, aimed at people over 30 years of age
Benidorm requests a grant of about 700,000 euros to hire 60 people to meet needs derived from Covid-19
Benidorm City Council has asked the Generalitat Valenciana for a subsidy of about 700,000 euros to hire 60 unemployed people from 30 years of age to meet needs derived from Covid-19. The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, has reported that “this grant has already been requested within the framework of the ECOVD2020 program, launched by LABORA in coordination with the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response (AVSRE) and financed by through the European Social Fund ”.
The municipal proposal is to “hire 60 people to carry out actions aimed at preventing, containing, alleviating or mitigating the effects of Covid-19 in the municipality of Benidorm, for example by providing support to educational centers, nurseries and training centers or in cultural and sporting events; or supporting compliance with preventive measures in municipal facilities and public spaces, among others ”.
According to the bases of the call, "the subsidy must be used to hire people who are unemployed as a result of the situation derived from Covid-19", and "the contracts will be for a period of six months per day complete ”. The City Council's prevision is that the people hired can start serving at the end of the year.
Gómez has clarified that “the Generalitat must now assess our request and decide what amount to grant to the City Council. It will be the amount that they finally grant us that will determine if we can hire 60 people or if we have to lower this figure ”. Once the aid has been granted and the definitive number of people to be hired has been established, the City Council will publish the requested job profiles and LABORA will send the list of candidates registered in the demanded occupations.
