The maintainer José Vicente García Ramos delved into scientific knowledge at the time of l'Almirall Bernat de Sarriá
Benidorm represents the granting of its Charter of Poblament at Plaça de Sant Jaume
Benidorm recalled his birth as a town last night with the traditional representation of the granting of the Poblament Letter from the Almirall Bernat de Sarriá, now 694 years ago. A representation that is based on the text of Professor Pasqual Almiñana, which was developed in the Plaça de Sant Jaume and that for 27 years have been staged by the members of the Grup Carta de Poblament and members of the Association of Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge'.
The act was attended, among others, by the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilors of Culture and Festivities, Ana Pellicer and Jesús Carboles; members of the corporation; the Queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor, with their courts of honor; the president of the Comissió, Roberto Carretero; and the president of the Associació de Penyes, Coli Pérez. The event was presented by Esperanza Rostoll, member of the Grup Carta de Poblament that, together with l'Associació de Penyes and the Department of Culture and Festivities, is responsible for organizing the commemorative events of this event.
After the performance, it was the turn of the event's maintainer, José Vicente García Ramos, CSIC researcher and theater director raised in Benidorm but based in Madrid. In his speech, García Ramos made an approach to scientific knowledge at the time of l'Almirall Bernat de Sarrià and the granting of the Charter of Poblament of Benidorm, first third of the fourteenth century.
García Ramos vindicated the importance of "basic science" and its impulse to guarantee the progress and progress of a nation; and affirmed that "in the 21st century, culture will not be such if science is not considered as a fundamental part". He also had words of remembrance of his stage of studies in Benidorm and for his family, part of which accompanied him last night.
The maintainer received a badge from the president of l'Associació de Penyes and also from the mayor, who was in charge of closing the ceremony. Toni Pérez thanked Grup Carta de Poblament for the "week of cultural events" organized to "show that Benidorm has a history that has its milestone in that year of 1325", moment from which "it has become a great city, which it is a model of planning, sustainability and tourism ".
Following the intervention of the maintainer, the mayor said that "science, innovation, technology and history must necessarily be disseminated so that the world knows what is really important."
Finally, the mayor said that José Vicente García Ramos is "a true ambassador of Benidorm."
