The square supports a high density of pedestrians for hosting the headquarters of ONCE, Dinapsis, SUMA and the Treasury Office

Benidorm removes architectural barriers and improves accessibility between Orxeta and Alfonso Puchades streets

Benidorm elimina barreras arquitectónicas y mejora la accesibilidad entre las calles Orxeta y Alfonso Puchades

"Benidorm is becoming a more accessible city every day" said the mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, during his visit this morning to the works that have been carried out to eliminate one of the architectural barriers that most hindered access to the saquare located between Orxeta Street and Alfonso Puchades Avenue, headquarters of ONCE headquarters of public services as important as the Treasury Delegation, SUMA or Dinapsis, the first Hydraqua technology center in Spain.
The work has been carried out by the company "Category Works and Projects SL" and was part of the improvements introduced in the 2017 Accessibility Plan, which included more than 15 actions in different neighborhoods of the city, many of which proposed made by the Neighborhood Council within the framework of the Participatory Budgets. In this case, an old demand from the Delegation of the ONCE in Benidorm has been addressed, whose director, Carlos Carrazoni, has accompanied the mayor together with the councilman of Urban Scene and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, other members of the municipal executive and municipal experts.
The works have followed the same line of improvement of mobility and pedestrian traffic contemplated in the 2017 Accessibility Plan and have consisted of eliminating height changes between the road, the sidewalk and the plaza between Orxeta Street and Avenida by Alfonso Puchades. It is an environment that concentrates a high density of pedestrian traffic and it is estimated that by that point daily access to the offices of the ONCE in Benidorm, around 200 people who are linked to the sale of the coupon. The mayor stressed that "it is working to fine-tune the city, making it increasingly accessible with an important budget, sustained in time since 2016 that exceeds 300,000 euros per year, only for accessibility, and also serves to demonstrate that the improvement of mobility is not at odds with the improvement of the aesthetics of the urban scene ".
