The subsidy is part of the Plan+Cerca 2023 of the provincial entity and is equivalent to the expense of the two municipal buildings that consume the most

Benidorm receives 271,474 euros from the Provincial Council to cover the cost of electricity for the City Council and Palau d'Esports in 2022

Benidorm recibe 271.474 euros de la Diputación para sufragar el gasto de energía eléctrica del Ayuntamiento y el Palau d’Esports en 2022

Benidorm City Council has received a subsidy of 271,474.23 euros from the Provincial Council of Alicante to cover the expenses derived from the consumption of electrical energy in the City Hall building and Palau d'Esports L'Illa de Benidorm in the year 2022.

This subsidy is part of Line 2 of Current Expenses Action (2022 annuity) of the Plan+Cerca 2023 of the provincial entity, within the Area of Assistance to Municipalities. The granting of this subsidy was approved in a plenary agreement of the Provincial Council on December 11

The purpose of the subsidy, as specified, is to finance the current operating and ordinary maintenance expenses of the two aforementioned municipal facilities.
In the case of the electrical energy expenditure of Palau d'Esports, the subsidy amounts to 111,858.64 euros, equivalent to the expenditure of the year 2022. Regarding the subsidy for the electrical expenditure of the City Hall building, the subsidy has been 159,615.59 euros, also equal to the building's electricity bill in the 2022 year.

As explained by the councillor of the department, Francis Muñoz, with this subsidy “we pay the energy costs of the two municipal facilities with the highest consumption in the city.” Muñoz explained that the Provincial Council has granted the amount requested by Benidorm "which corresponds to the energy expenditure of both buildings in 2022." In this case, the supramunicipal aid is not aimed at making any investment, but rather at defraying the cost of the electrical energy consumed.
