The local government works on this measure, which will reach all companies in the sector regardless of the number of workers

Benidorm raises aid to the local accommodation fabric of up to 50% of the IBI

Benidorm planteja ajudes al teixit de l'allotjament local de fins al 50% de l'IBI...

Within the measures to support the local productive fabric in the face of the economic effects of Covid-19, Benidorm City Council proposes a line of aid to the city's accommodation sector and that will reach "up to 50% of the IBI satisfied in 2020" . This has been announced today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, to the groups of the Corporation in a Board of Spokespersons, in which he has informed that the local government, with the advice of the Economic Area, is already working on this measure, which will be specified in the upcoming weeks.

Toni Pérez explained that “these grants are aimed at injecting economy into the entire local accommodation fabric; that is, hotels, campsites, guesthouses, hostels and tourist apartment management companies, regardless of the number of workers ”. With this measure, he has deepened, "Benidorm City Council serves a key sector for the local economy, which makes an important contribution to the GDP of the Valencian Community, and which has largely been excluded from Paréntesis Plan of the Regional Government, as these benefits are limited to companies with less than 10 workers ”.

The mayor has stressed that "we want to fill that gap" and "support a sector that is currently fully suffering the consequences of this pandemic, and that historically has been and is a generator of employment and wealth." Toni Pérez has pointed out that the important repercussion of the sector in terms of employment has been evidenced when knowing “the huge number of people who are linked to the accommodation sector are unfortunately in an ERTE and the many of them who due to their condition of their permanent seasonal contract are also suffering this crisis ”.

Parenthesis Aid and Family Aid

Regarding the so-called Parenthesis Grants, to which the City Council is going to contribute around 790,000 euros, the mayor has advanced that “the bases that will govern this call are being finalized, the draft of which will be made available this week to the groups of the Corporation, as we have already done with the Family Aid bases ”.

Regarding the latter, Toni Pérez has reported that “since last Saturday, when the grant application period was opened, 264 records have been received through the Electronic Office of the City Council, as well as 466 requests for a prior appointment for processing face-to-face ”. The mayor has remarked that “a special device has been arranged to attend by appointment with those who require that face-to-face attention, allocating more human resources and extending the opening hours of the Municipal branches and the General Register of the City Council to be able to attend daily until 210 people ”. The face-to-face processing hours are from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 17:30 to 19:30, and the previous appointment can be requested on the municipal website www.benidorm.org.
