Benidorm puts into operation a Skate Park in whose design the own users have collaborated
They are the first installations in the Parc de la Séquia Mare that will occupy 70,000 m2 dedicated to "healthy leisure"
The public Skate Park of Benidorm has just come on stream. A new installation, for long claimed by users, who were forced to practice their favorite sport in urban areas that were not prepared for it.
The installation is part of the new Parc de la Séquia Mare, 70,000 m2 intended for "healthy leisure in an absolutely natural environment", announced the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, which fulfills the "desire of many generations of young people of our city". The mayor, accompanied by the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the councilors of Parks and Gardens, José Ramón González de Zárate; of Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez; and the councillor of the Municipal Group Ciudadanos (C's), Juan Balastegui, has visited the facility and exchanged opinions with new users. This site has meant a disbursement of 50,000 euros which will be accompanied by "new investments" throughout 2017, Pérez said.
"Our intention," said the mayor, "is that this Parque de la Séquia Mare also houses a skateboard" so that everyone who likes and enjoys skating, especially children in Benidorm ", has a first-rate facility where to practice Its sport "with total security and tranquility".
Benidorm, with the entry into operation of this facility, adds a "new value" to its sports and tourism offer. It is satisfied the demand of the claimants of this type of activities and also of those who come to visit us because it is an attraction that is being imposed, especially in Europe, "insisted Toni Perez. This "small offer" of Benidorm, will be in the future "unmatched and comparable to the best attractions for the practice of skateboarding or cycling," concluded the mayor.
With the collaboration of the 'skaters'
The Skate Park of Benidorm has been made by the company Copinramps, specialized in the realization of specific facilities for the practice of Skate, Roller, Scooter and BMX. For the design of the installation, the managers of the company have had the collaboration of the first interested in its construction: the skaters of Benidorm. This has been confirmed by Marcos Velasco, representative of the mercantile. "We talk to local people," he says, "to see what they expect and what they want." The new Skate Park "is different because there are none like this in the entire Comunitat Valenciana", insisted Velasco.
Benidorm has all the elements that crave the practitioners of this sport: ramp, drawers, jump ramp, quarter, etc. And even though it had not been announced by the official municipal channels its launch, dozens of young people already enjoy their favorite sport. "It's always the same thing," said Velasco, you may think that there are no skaters, but as soon as the track is built "they appear from under the stones" which, in his opinion, demonstrates the "very demand" For this sport.
From the department of Parks and Gardens it is recalled that the enclosure, as such, is not a recreation area or walk, but is entirely dedicated to sports. The use of the helmet is also mandatory and "other recommended" protections, such as elbow pads or knee pads. Skate lovers are also advised to be responsible and use the track according to their level and skills.
