Benidorm presenta un amplio programa de actividades para conmemorar el Día de la Mujer

The Equality Department of Benidorm City Council has scheduled an extensive and varied program of events to commemorate International Women's Day, which is celebrated in most of the world on March 8. The programming was presented this Monday at a press conference by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, who has invited citizens to actively participate in these activities and has thanked all the people and entities that will collaborate in them for their involvement.

Thus, the first of the events will take place next Tuesday, February 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of Casa del Fester, with a conference titled 'Women in the Bauhaus', by Mari Ángeles Valdivieso which comes from Agoraben association.

The next date on the program will be March 1, Friday, with the XXIII Meeting of Women of the Marina Baixa, which is organized on an itinerant basis and this year will take place at the Auditori de La Nucía. At this meeting there will be a snack and, then, a monologue, for which each of the towns has received 50 invitations to distribute among interested women.

On Sunday, March 3, the concert for Women's Day will be held by L'Illa Sociedad Musical of Benidorm, at 6 p.m., within the 'Culture for Equality' cycle organized jointly by both councils. It will be in the Auditorium of the Cultural Center, as Zaragozí has transferred.

One day later, on Monday the 4th, the talk workshop 'Learn to feel better' will be held, led by psychologist Jéssica Sanchís, starting at 10 in the morning at Jelena Social Center.

On March 5, Tuesday, also within the 'Culture for Equality' cycle, the painting exhibition 'Circular Poetry', by Basilia Sánchez, will be inaugurated at the Epai d'Art of the Benidorm City Council, at 11 am. This exhibition can be visited until March 22.

One day later, on March 6, different activities with a very varied theme will take place. On the one hand, in collaboration with the Department of Sports, the 'Valenta visits your school' campaign will be carried out, promoted by the Football Federation of the Valencian Community to encourage the practice of football among girls. Likewise, that same day in the afternoon a triangular football match, called 'Semana Valenta', will be played in our city between the Valencian U21 women's football team and two teams from La Nucía and Alicante, for which a schedule has not yet been set.

Likewise, on March 6, at 6 p.m., the multipurpose room of the Central Library will host the presentation of the book 'Argila i Calç', by Elvira Cambrils, organized by the Library Network. At 6:30 p.m., in the Assembly Hall of the Casa del Fester, the singing and poetry recital 'Women: Great Wings', organized by the local Association of Housewives, will take place.

The activities will continue on Thursday, March 7, with the concert conference titled 'Music and Science', by Gema Martínez and María Eugenia Palomares, which will take place at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Benidorm City Council.

This concert is also part of the 'Culture for Equality' cycle.

On the 8th, International Women's Day, the program will begin at 10 in the morning with the placement of the commemorative banner on the balcony of the City Hall. At 10:30 a.m. at the Housewives' Association, a painting exhibition will be inaugurated. At noon there will be a screening of the trailer of the documentary 'The Weight of Absence', organized by the Soroptimist Marina Baixa association which “is a preview of a broader work that addresses gender violence from the story of two affected by a real case of gender violence”, as Ángela Zaragozí explained. This screening will take place in the City Hall Assembly Hall and will include a subsequent debate, the councillor added.

At 2 p.m., the Anémona association will celebrate its traditional social meal, while in the afternoon, starting at 6:30 p.m., the multipurpose room of the Central Library will host the presentation of another literary work. In this case, titled 'More light: Testimonies of women victims of gender violence', by Rosa Mascarell and Annamaria Parejo.

Finally, on Monday, March 11, the play 'Let Us Take Away the Dance' will be performed, at 7:30 p.m., in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council; while on Tuesday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m., the conference 'Women and associations' will take place at José Llorca Llinares Social Center.

“We are going to decide for practically fifteen days to celebrate this anniversary, with all kinds of activities and a very complete program,” said the Councilor for Equality during the presentation of these events. Ángela Zaragozí has highlighted that the programming “has taken a lot of time and coordination”, but has clarified that it has gone ahead “because we work transversally with the rest of the councils and we are open to all the proposals that they want to make to us”, after which has invited citizens to “participate and enjoy” all these activities.
