Benidorm is preparing to celebrate the festivity of its patron, Sant Jaume

The celebrations in honor of Sant Jaume Apóstol, patron of Benidorm, are ready. This has announced this morning by the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, and the president of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals, Paco Marín, in an appearance before the media.

"A program - said Carrobles - extensive and intense" with which the City Council and the Comissió of Festes Majors Patronals want to celebrate the festivity of its patron and its local festviites. They will be "emblematic dates, of the most important of the year", which join "the celebrations of March, commemoration of the Finding of the Mare de Déu and the own Festes Majors". The councillor congratulated and appreciated the effort made by the members of the commission and highlighted their work developed in recent years which "has allowed to recover popular traditions such as the dance of Peuet, the pilgrimage to the patron or the Estampeta".

For his part, the president of the Comissió recalled that there are very few places left to participate in the 'Sopar de Sant Jaume', which is "along with that of my queens, the most beautiful dinner of all Benidorm festivities". Paco Marín also indicated that the Commission will have a bar service "at popular prices" in the festivals, whose benefits will be directed to the preparation of the festivities in November.

19.30 hours. Presentation of the poster of the Festes Majors Patronals of 2018, by Marina Sanchís.
20.30 Mass in honor of the patron in the Parochial Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna. After the ceremony will proceed to the appointment of Mayorales de Honor of 2018 and subsequently the Estampeta will be shot and the queens and their court of honor will dance the traditional Peuet dance.
