Benidorm participates again in the campaign of recycling that raises funds to fight against breast cancer

11 October 2017
Benidorm participa de nuevo en la campaña de reciclaje que recauda fondos para luchar contra el cáncer de mama

'Recycle glass for them', from Ecovidrio, reaches 18 Spanish cities and will donate to Sandra Ibarra Foundation one euro for each kilo deposited in the eight pink containers

Benidorm participates for the third consecutive year in the solidarity campaign developed by Ecovidrio to raise funds to fight against breast cancer. The campaign, which this year is entitled 'Recycle glass for them', arrives in this edition to 18 Spanish cities, and will donate to the Foundation Sandra Ibarra one euro for each kilo of glass that citizens deposit in the next weeks in the pink containers specific to this initiative.

In the case of Benidorm, eight pink igloos will be installed in four strategic points of the city: the SSMM Reyes de España Square, the Mediterranean section closest to the Triangular Plaza, and the intersections of the Bilbao avenues with Alcoi and Beniardá with Alfonso Puchades.

This morning the mayor, Toni Pérez, has moved him; and the area manager of Ecovidrio, Roberto Fuertes, during the presentation of the campaign, which also included the councilors of Environment and Equality, José Ramón González de Zárate and Paquita Ripoll; representatives of the corporation groups; and the president of the Self-Help Group for Women with Cancer (Anémona), María Botella.

The mayor stressed that "Benidorm adds a lot" to this campaign "for our solidarity and our awareness about the recycling of glass" that are evident in "our huge numbers" of glass reuse. In fact, in Benidorm "more than three times more glass per person and year than in the average of Spanish cities", concretely 55.32 kilos compared to 16. With these starting figures, Pérez has predicted that the one of 'Recicla glass for them 'will be' a good campaign 'in numerical terms.

Fuertes has explained that in addition to the contribution for each kilo recycled, Ecovidrio has also envisaged another formula to raise money for Sandra Ibarra Foundation. Thus, a "domestic container" has been created with a special design that "can be purchased on Miniglu.es website". The proceeds from the sale of these containers "will be used in full by the Foundation".

The last edition of the campaign was closed in Benidorm with 6,000 kilos of glass collected, which resulted in 3,000 euros for the Local Board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and the same amount for Anémona.
