Benidorm opens a new callisthenics area in El Moralet

21 February 2025
Benidorm estrena nueva zona de calistenia en El Moralet

The new callisthenics area installed by Benidorm City Council in El Moralet Park is now fully operational and “available to users,” the Councillor for Parks and Gardens, José Ramón González de Zárate, announced today. The area is located next to the access to Av. Vicente Pérez Devesa.

The space has “four state-of-the-art approved gym equipment.” It is designed to guarantee the safety and comfort of users who practice this sport and complement the recreational offer of El Moralet, an enclave recently awarded the Sendero Azul 2025 Flag.

González de Zárate recalled that Benidorm has four other callisthenics areas, one in the same urban park, in the upper area of Av. Beniardà, in the Leisure Park, above the Bullring, in Rincón de Loix and on Playa de Poniente”.

Callisthenics areas “in all neighbourhoods”, said González de Zárate, “so people can enjoy and do sports outdoors”. The councillor has also valued the local climate which favours outdoor sports practice.

With this fifth callisthenics area, Benidorm continues to advance in its objective of being a benchmark city in sports and healthy leisure, offering its inhabitants and tourists more opportunities to stay active and enjoy public spaces.

Callisthenics

Calisthenics is a physical training. It develops strength, flexibility and endurance and has gained popularity recently due to its accessibility and versatility. This sport does not require expensive equipment, as it is practised on specific structures: beams, rings and other elements. In addition, it is an inclusive activity that adapts to all ages and fitness levels.
