Benidorm obtains a subsidy from the Diputación to replace the artificial turf of the football field attached to the Guillermo Amor footballfield

26 July 2022
Campo Fútbol de Foietes.

Benidorm City Council has obtained a grant from Alicante Provincial Council to proceed with the replacement of the artificial turf of the football field attached to Guillermo Amor stadium, as stated in the announcement published yesterday by the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante.

The subsidy is part of the call for the granting of aid for the replacement of the artificial turf of the municipal soccer fields corresponding to the annuity 2022, to which the provincial entity has allocated a total of 2,294,928.39 euros.

The intervention must be completed before October 2, 2023, and the City Council will be in charge of assuming all responsibility for its completion, in addition to placing a sign at the construction site and in a visible place.

The Diputación has granted Benidorm 133,100 euros, an amount that corresponds to 100% of the action, including the execution project.

The municipal technicians considered that the state of the artificial turf of the adjoining soccer field made it necessary to replace it due to the passing of the years since it was installed and because it has been the scene of numerous activities and events and for that reason, they have opted for a full replacement instead of partial renovations. In addition, the new grass that will be laid will be of the latest generation, more durable, more comfortable and less abrasive for the athletes who carry out their activities there.

The Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, has highlighted that "the football field is more than ten years old and therefore it is necessary to undertake the replacement, for which we decided to go to the call for grants from the Provincial Council, which has always attended our requests."

Cebreros has stressed that this intervention "is part of the efforts of the Department to continually improve the city's sports facilities so that our athletes can practice their specialities in the best conditions."

In this sense, the mayor recalled recent actions such as the reconstruction of the open-air sports court in Foietes and others such as the improvement of efficiency and accessibility in Palau d'Esports or the improvement of the universal accessibility of Raúl Mesa pavilion.
