Benidorm Local Police implement special measures for the August 1 Holiday Traffic Operation
The City Council is increasing the police presence to manage traffic on the city's main entry and exit routes
Benidorm Local Police have established a special traffic operation for August 1st, "in response to the large volume of vehicles expected to enter and leave the city this weekend," according to the Councillor for Public Service, Jesús Carrobles. This operation will run from this Friday until next Sunday, with "police reinforcements at the main access points to ensure smooth and controlled traffic flow."
Carrobles indicated that the highest volume of traffic in Benidorm is expected "from 5:00 PM this Friday" until "late Saturday morning." During these peak hours, in addition to the Local Police Traffic units, the operation will be reinforced with six officers, both at the entrances to the city centre and within the city itself. Mobility throughout the city will also be constantly monitored using "the extensive network of traffic control cameras," which comprises 117 devices.
The councillor emphasised that “efforts will be focused on potential traffic jams entering and leaving Benidorm,” especially at the roundabouts of Avenida Comunidad Valenciana with Avenida de Europa and Comunidad Europea, as well as at Juan Pablo II and Murtal roundabouts. He also asked drivers for “understanding and patience if traffic becomes somewhat heavier at peak times in the busiest areas.”
The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) estimates that nearly one million journeys will take place in the Valencian Community alone during Operation August 1st, which will continue until next Sunday.
