Benidorm Local Police establishes a special operation for Operation August 1st

Benidorm Local Police have established a special traffic operation for Operation August 1st, "in response to the large volume of vehicles expected to enter and leave the city this weekend," according to Jesús Carrobles, Councillor for Public Service. Thus, starting this morning, "we have reinforced the police presence at the access points to ensure smooth operation and better control."

Carrobles announced that the greatest number of movements in Benidorm are expected "from 5 p.m. today, Friday, until late Saturday morning." During "these more complicated times," six police units will be manning the main access points, and traffic will also be constantly monitored throughout the city through "the extensive network of traffic control cameras."

The councillor emphasised that "efforts will be focused on avoiding potential traffic jams entering and exiting Benidorm as much as possible," although he asked drivers for "understanding and patience if traffic becomes somewhat heavier at the busiest points at peak times."

The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) estimates that in the Valencian Community alone, nearly one million journeys will occur during Operation 1st of August, which began today and will continue until next Sunday.
