Benidorm City Council has increased its contribution this year towards the organisation of the upcoming Festes Majors Patronals, which will take place from 7 to 11 November, bringing its funding to €203,500. The Council’s financial support will help to make the programme of events “even bigger and better, if that is possible”, allowing residents and visitors alike to enjoy the festivities, which are just two weeks away.

Benidorm Mayor Toni Pérez made these remarks following the signing of the traditional collaboration agreements with the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals and the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge. The two organisations were represented by their respective presidents, Ramón Cano and Diego Carrasco. The signing was attended by Councillor for Fiestas Mariló Cebreros and the City Council’s Secretary General.

This year, the Council will provide a total of €203,500 to the two organisations, an increase of €18,500 compared with previous years. The funding will support activities taking place during “a few days that bring us all together and fill every corner of our city with music, emotion and joy”.

The Comissió de Festes, the main organiser of the celebrations, will receive €165,000, an increase of €15,000 compared with previous editions. Meanwhile, the Associació de Penyes will receive €38,500, up from the €35,000 allocated in previous years. This funding is in addition to the support provided throughout the year for other activities organised by the association, such as Carnival and the Acampada.

Following the signing of both agreements, Toni Pérez and Mariló Cebreros held a brief meeting with representatives of the two organisations to hear first-hand about the preparations for the upcoming Festes Majors Patronals.

Meeting with the Penyes (Local Festivities Associations)
Prior to the signing of the two agreements, the Mayor and Councillor for Fiestas attended one of the final weekly meetings of the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge on Tuesday evening to wish all the members a happy festive season.

During the meeting, the Mayor paid tribute to the committee chaired this year by Diego Carrasco, highlighting “the tremendous work they have carried out throughout the year for and on behalf of the penyes”.

Both Toni Pérez and Mariló Cebreros pledged the City Council’s support for the association to ensure that “we can all enjoy a wonderful Festes Majors Patronals”. They also called on those taking part in the celebrations to work together to ensure that the festivities “pass without incident and leave us all with lasting memories of an unforgettable celebration”.
