A new sidewalk street connects Italia street with the underpass that connects to the bus station
Benidorm City Council is improving the safety and accessibility of school pedestrian routes in the district of Els Tolls. Some actions that are included in the Accessibility Plan 2016 and in addition to similar functions and throughout the year in schools in La Cala and Colonia Madrid district. The mayor and delegate of Education, Toni Pérez indicated that improving school itineraries "is a goal that we have set this year" and has "strong support of the Neighborhood Council" which also suggested the performance in some points. Pérez detailed that it is being acted in different crosses in the Municipality like Andalucía and Belgica Avenues, where the size of the sidewalks have been expanded, and kerbs have been removed. It has also been created a sidewalk to connect Italia street and giving access to the bus station; so far pedestrians were forced to walk on the road to cover this stretch of about 60 meters. With these actions, "we improve mobility and traffic, mainly for pedestrians" and "guarantee better security" to all school students of Puig Campana and Els Tolls, as well as travelling on foot from Els Tolls to the educational complex of Salto del Agua. The Accessibility Plan is endowed with 225,000 euros and plans eight actions proposed by the Neighborhood Council and many others indicated by municipal technicians. Thus, besides the works mentioned in several streets of Els Tolls, there have already been scheduled in the Ruzafa, Captitán Cortés, Austria with Inglaterra street and the crossings of Foietes Avenue with Serrano and Macarena street. In addition, soon we are going to act in the area of Maravall with Urano street; in Murtal, Puerto Rico, Benisa and Marina Baixa Avenues; in Santander street with Alfaz del Pi street; in Paseo de Colón; and improving the intersection of El Estanquet -in the confluence of the avenues Severo Ochoa and Comunidad Valenciana-. It is also planned to create a pedestrian route between Ibiza and Emilio Romero streets; recovering Torrejó stairs; and acting in Derramador Avenue with Bernat de Sarrià; and at the entrances to L'Aigüera parking.
