From January 15 to February 15, all the furniture has been removed to sift the sand and make it easier to be cleaned naturally
Benidorm improves the point of accessible beaches in La Cala within the actions of setting up the sandbanks
Tamarindos area adds a footbath next to the new access
The Department of Beaches, hand in hand with the company in charge of their comprehensive management, RA Benidorm, has already completed the work of setting up the sandbanks for the start of the new season and this year has included the improvement of the point of accessible beaches of La Cala.
The councillor of the department, Mónica Gómez, explained that "the beaches have daily and constant maintenance throughout the year, although traditionally and coinciding with the decrease in swimmers, larger works are being carried out ”.
Thus, "between January 15 and February 15, the furniture and facilities were removed from the beaches to proceed with their natural cleaning." To do this, the surface of the beach is screened to turn the sand over and allow the ultraviolet action of the sun to disinfect it. At the end of this period, the furniture and installations are replaced again.
Among the extraordinary actions, Gómez has detailed that "the point of accessible beaches of La Cala has been renewed, replacing both the structures and the awnings that facilitate the shaded areas"; an investment of around 9,500 euros. Likewise, a piece of new footbath equipment has been installed next to the new access to Paseo de Tamarindos, where the old loading dock and the adjoining ramp that were in disuse have been eliminated, generating more space and safety for swimmers and pedestrians.
