Toni Pérez states that “creating optimal conditions for generating employment should be a priority for government agencies”
Benidorm hosts the conference ‘AI in new selection processes’ with five-minute ‘express’ job interviews
Benidorm City Hall's Assembly Hall hosted the "EmpleIA-T" conference this morning, entitled "Artificial Intelligence in New Selection Processes." Organised by the Benidorm Employment Board, the event aimed to foster a greater understanding of how artificial intelligence is used in personnel selection processes and personal branding.
The conference was opened by the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the Regional Director of Employment and Labora, Cortes María Martínez de las Heras. Following the official opening, the first presentation, "AI in Recruitment Processes," was given by Maite Rubio, HR Director at SEUR. The second presentation, entitled "AI and Personal Branding," was delivered by Miguel Sánchez, Marketing Director and CEO of Neoconsulting. After a break, the day resumed at 11:00 AM with the main new feature of the day taking place in the Town Hall lobby: five-minute "express" job interviews conducted by companies currently hiring.
The purpose of the event is to promote employment in the municipality through the implementation and coordination of employment and training initiatives among all its members. In this regard, the mayor emphasised that "the best social policy is employment, and therefore, creating optimal conditions for job creation must be a priority for public administrations." He added, "We must work to ensure that people have the best possible access to the job market."
Pérez highlighted the importance of the event, "which analyses how artificial intelligence impacts work dynamics," a "very topical" issue these days. The mayor also mentioned the novelty of the "express" interviews, in which eleven companies participated. “It’s a complete success; it’s innovative and interesting, and it helps us better understand the job market,” the mayor added. Regarding the use of AI, Pérez considered that “it helps us anticipate changes, to adapt our selection processes better, and to make accurate diagnoses.” Therefore, he affirmed that “it aligns with what we want for the city: to improve the quality of life and opportunities for our residents and to enhance the experience of those who visit us.”
The regional director of Employment and Labora, for her part, opined that this conference “addresses issues that will shape the course of the coming years” and that it will help us adapt “to the new challenges and possibilities presented by the technological revolution.”
On the subject of employment, Martínez de las Heras pointed out that AI “is the great innovation, and thanks to it, we can look beyond a person’s resume, identify previously invisible skills, and see talent in a new light.” Thus, she advocated viewing artificial intelligence “as a driving force, not a threat.”
