Benidorm gets the land to build a skating rink next to the Palau d'Esports
The owners have transferred the land in exchange for units of use
Benidorm Town Hall has obtained the necessary land in the area of Salto del Agua to build a skating rink next to the Palau d'Esports L'Illa, in a space that will be framed within the urban park of the Sequia Mare. The plot is located between the 'carrer de pilota' and the traffic playground and has an area of about 14,000 square meters.
The councilor for Town Planning, Lourdes Caselles, explained that "this land is listed in the General Plan as a sports use", so that "the skating rink project fits perfectly with its qualification and also with the government's commitment to expand and improve the sports and leisure facilities in the surroundings of the Palau d'Esports and Mare Secía.
The City Council will not have to make a payment for these lands, as the owners will transfer this land in exchange for units of use - the so-called 'udas'- in the Partial Plan 1/1 Armanello, the only sector in which there is availability, as reflected in the report of the municipal architect.
The acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, has signed this morning the document of land assignment and use reserve, which has established that as soon as Armanello can be developed urbanistically the City Council will deliver to the former owners a total of 3,553, 78 units of use in the sector.
The construction of the skating rink is included in the municipal budget approved by PP, Ciudadanos por Benidorm (CBM) and Ciudadanos (Cs), it involves an investment of around 285,000 euros and should be executed between the end of this year and the beginning of 2018.
The councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, has defended that this sports facility "is necessary since in recent years skating has experienced a very remarkable increase, increasing the number of people who practice it." In fact, "athletes of Benidorm have already participated successfully in regional and national competitions." In addition, Patina Benidorm club has collected over a thousand signatures requesting this skating rink.
