The Benidorm City Council and the Els Tolls Neighborhood Association receive the award for sustainable mobility
The awards correspond to projects carried out since participation and consensus
In an event held this morning in Ciutat Administrativa 9 d'Octubre in València, the Mobility councilor José Ramón González de Zárate and the municipal technician and urbanist Juan Carlos Galiano have collected the second prize that the Conselleria d'Habitatge, Obres Públiques i Vertebració del Territori has awarded the City Council in the category of large cities. The award was presented by the consellera, Mª José Salvador and is part of the second edition of the European Mobility Week Awards 2017 in the Region of Valencia (SEMcv-2017).
The candidacy of Benidorm was endorsed by the project 'Creation of a safe route in the school complex. Zona Centro-Poniente ', carried out by the Department of Mobility and has allowed the paving and creation of the cycle lane from the border with Finestrat to the educational and sports complex of Salt de l'Aigua. 6.4 Km. of route that has made it possible to access on foot or by bike to this important center where, in addition to the teaching centers, are the Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm, the Municipal Vehicle Depot, the Language School or the Children's Traffic Park.
The Association of Neighbors of Els Tolls has also participated in the award ceremony, which has been awarded with the second prize in the category of institutions, organizations and companies for its work 'Implementation of the culture of sustainable mobility in the neighborhood of Els Tolls'. This time the award has been received by its president, Juan Antonio Lizancos, accompanied by the councilor of Citizen Participation, Mª Jesús Pinto.
The councillor of Mobility has been satisfied and grateful for the awards received from the Generalitat because "they are the result of the effort and collaboration of all. The debate, the agreement and the consensus are our instruments "as it has been demonstrated with" the work done from the Neighborhood Council or the Mobility Table "that" little by little ", González de Zárate underlined," gives results as shown by the awards which has received today Benidorm and that will serve as an endorsement to future projects such as the EDUSI [Strategy for Sustainable Urban Development] that are already being developed. "
In the SEMCV-2017 Awards, 43 actions were participated in 21 nominations: 14 of the local corporations and 7 of institutions, organizations and companies. In this edition there has been no prize for the category of professionals of the means of communication.
