The fourth edition of Benidorm Fest premiered last night, once again achieving great success in terms of its dissemination and impact in the media and social networks. This is evidenced by the data released today, according to which the 'share' achieved by RTVE during the broadcast of the event reached 13.1% of the audience, the best historical figure in the first semi-final of this contest, pulverizing the 10.8% recorded in the first gala of 2024. In addition, on the social network X (formerly Twitter), Benidorm Fest positioned itself as a national and global 'trending topic'.
The contest to choose the singer who will represent Spain next May at Eurovision, organized by Benidorm City Council, the Generalitat Valenciana and RTVE, will hold its second semi-final tomorrow, Thursday, while the grand final will take place next Saturday from 10 p.m. The two galas will take place at Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm. In addition, throughout the week, Benidorm City Council has organised other parallel activities, such as the ‘Gastro League’ zone or the broadcast on giant screens at Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España, as well as the two Euroclub parties: one this Wednesday, in the Penélope room; and another on Friday, open to the public, which will begin at 7 pm at Julio Iglesias Auditorium in Parque de l’Aigüera.
According to the data released today by the public entity, the first gala of Benidorm Fest on RTVE was the absolute audience leader in its time slot, garnering a 'share' of 13.1%, which meant 2.3 points more than in 2024. The average number of viewers stood at 1,215,000 people, with an increase of 210,000 viewers compared to last year's edition, which is an increase of 20% compared to the viewers of the first semi-final in 2024. Likewise, the entity has announced that more than 3.7 million people followed this gala at some moments during the evening, in which the top four classified for the grand final on February 1 were announced: Kuve, La Chispa, Daniela Blasco and Lucas Bun.
Another factor explaining the good reception of the Benidorm Fest is the number of views through other channels. Thus, on RTVE Play, the first gala was watched live by more than 100,000 unique visitors and recorded 189,000 views. It became the most viewed Benidorm Fest semi-final in the platform's history and grew by 55% compared to last year.
RTVE's social networks had more than 2.6 million views and 80,000 interactions, an impact that increased by 53% compared to the first semi-final of 2024.
Benidorm Fest was the number one trending topic worldwide last night with more than 46.7 thousand publications and 16.7 million impressions in the tweets issued by users. The big data analysis carried out by Visit Benidorm indicates that the hashtags #benidormfestSemi1, #benidormfest2025 and #benidormfest reached first place among national and international trends and with users from up to 69 countries following the event through this channel. In fact, during the programme, there were more than 100,000 mentions and up to 124,626 during the whole day of the first semi-final, with a potential reach of 248 million users, while more than 20,000 related searches were recorded through Google.
The country that has the highest number of followers of the event on social networks is Spain, with 72.76% of the posts, followed by Colombia (15.70%), Mexico, the United States and others.
