The City Council almost doubles the capacity of this parking area
Benidorm expands the car park next to the TRAM station, with capacity for 1,000 vehicles
Benidorm City Council is expanding the parking located next to the TRAM station, which with this action adds more than 400 new parking spaces to reach capacity for more than a thousand vehicles, as reported today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate. Both have travelled to the area, one of the main entrances to Benidorm, to follow the progress of the expansion works, which are expected to be completed "in the coming days, so that the car park is already operational on the weekend ”.
The expansion of the car park "is being carried out towards the north, practically reaching the roundabout that connects with the variant of the N332 and with the Potabilizadora de Agua Potable (ETAP)". It is, the mayor recalled, "a land of municipal property, the prelude to what will be the new green circuit of El Moralet that will give access to the large forest that surrounds the city from Foietes to La Cala."
The councillor has indicated that "recently part of the space occupied by the initial car park has been transferred to Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) to build its new workshops there". "In exchange for this space - he has clarified -, FGV will adapt the access road to the future green circuit, which will have a width of 5 meters". With the expansion of the car park that is being carried out at the moment, "we are not only recovering the lost spaces, but we are multiplying its capacity by almost two to reach more than 1,000".
Toni Pérez recalled that "currently Benidorm has a wide network of free-use deterrent car parks throughout the city, which with this extension will be placed over 5,500 parking spaces".
