Benidorm doubles the cleaning of containers and changes the hours to deposit garbage
The Department of Street Cleaning, through the service's concessionaire –Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) - has intensified the cleaning and disinfection of the city's garbage containers. As reported by the councillor of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate, "at the moment the‘ container washing machines ’are working day and night to double cleaning." For this reason, he has asked the communities of owners "not to remove them from the public road after noon, in order to facilitate this cleaning and disinfection task for the operators of the morning shift service."
De Zárate has indicated that "we have also advanced and expanded the schedule for citizens to deposit garbage in containers, in order to avoid as much as possible that people coincide doing this task and also facilitating the collection to be done before and the service focuses on the aforementioned cleaning and disinfection of the furniture ”.
Thus, the new schedule for depositing garbage will be from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The councillor pointed out that "it is important that these hours are respected to clean the containers." In the same way, he has asked the citizens that while the state of alarm for the coronavirus lasts, "no items should be taken out on the public road since the cleaning services are focused on disinfecting public spaces." Currently, an average of 150 containers are being cleaned daily.
On the other hand, members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) have travelled to the city to proceed with the cleaning and disinfection of Plaza SSMM Reyes de España.
