The work is carried out in the afternoon and focuses on washing down and removing accumulated dirt under vehicles and containers
Benidorm develops during the summer an extraordinary street cleaning campaign in all neighborhoods
The Department of Street Cleaning of the Benidorm City Council is carrying out an extraordinary cleaning campaign focused on the neighborhoods of the city, apart from the usual cleaning and the one that is carried out in the areas closest to the beach and the downtown area, with a more significant influx of tourists.
This campaign, as explained by the councilor Luis Navarro, has been carried out in the afternoon since June 29 and is expected to last throughout August "and if necessary we will also extend until September".
The work is consisting of removing the remains of paper, leaves, and other materials found under cars parked on public roads with the use of a blower. Likewise, any stains next to the bins or containers are removed. In this sense, the containers are being washed down for their complete cleaning.
The waste that is removed from the surroundings of these containers, as well as that which is under the vehicles, is deposited in the center of the road so that a sweeping machine can collect it, leaving the street clean.
Luis Navarro pointed out that the main neighborhood demands come "because of the dirt that accumulates next to the vehicles or under them and that is why we are paying special attention to this aspect, without neglecting the cleanliness of the streets."
This extraordinary device is made up of a brigade made up of a driver, a driver pawn, and two pawns. The mechanical means used are a sweeper, a blower, and a pressure washer.
These cleaning tasks in the neighborhoods have been extraordinarily taking place since last June 29 from Monday to Friday. Navarro explained that the Department intends "to continue this entire month and in September if necessary due to the influx of people." The councillor also specified that since the campaign began, action has been taken in almost all the neighborhoods of Benidorm "although we will continue to do so depending on the needs and situations that arise."
Thus, the reinforcement has already been carried out in the following neighborhood: Els Tolls, in Saladar-Ciudad Jardín, Colonia Madrid, Alfredo Corral, and Pescadores, and Callosa Street and adjacent streets, and in Santander Street and adjacent streets, as well as in Calpe, Denia, Javea, and others streets.
