Benidorm condemns the sexist crime of a 46-year-old woman in Castellón

 Benidorm City Council has once again expressed this Wednesday its rejection and condemnation of the latest confirmed sexist murder in the last few hours in our country, which has ended the life of a 46-year-old woman murdered in Castellón allegedly by her partner, a man who later turned himself in at a police station in Barcelona.

The silent demonstration, which was also joined throughout the autonomous territory by the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVEMP), took place at midday at the door of the City Hall and was led by the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, together with the councillor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and other members of the municipal Corporation, who have thus expressed their unanimous rejection of this new sexist murder.

This is a 46-year-old woman allegedly murdered by her partner on 2 September. The victim had a minor son and an adult daughter and there were previous complaints of gender violence against the alleged aggressor.

With the confirmation of this case within the spectrum of violence against women, the number of women murdered by gender violence in Spain rises to 33 in 2024 and to 1,277 since 2003, when this data began to be collected.

Likewise, the number of minors orphaned by gender violence in Spain rises to 22 in 2024 and to 455 since 2013.

The Department of Equality reminds us that Benidorm City Council has staff specialised in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. It also reiterates once again that victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to delete it from the call log of mobile phones.

This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and in 52 languages.
Likewise, in an emergency, you can call 112 or the emergency telephone numbers of the National Police (091) and the Civil Guard (062). If it is not possible to make a call and in the event of a dangerous situation, you can use the ALERTCOPS application, from which an alert signal will be sent to the police with geolocation. All these means of assistance can be activated by the victim and also by anyone who knows or suspects a case of gender violence. It is a duty of all society.
