Equality recalls that 016 cares for victims of gender violence 24 hours a day
Benidorm condemns a new sexist crime, the 15th so far this year
Benidorm has condemned today a new sexist crime, which happened last Friday in the Valencian town of Villanueva de Castellón and that brings the number of victims so far this year to 15. The mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí; members of the Corporation; municipal workers; and neighbors have observed a minute of silence at the gates of the City Council to show their rejection of this social scourge, which since 2003 has claimed the lives of 1,048 women.
On this occasion, the victim has been a 38-year-old woman, who died after being shot in the head. His partner was arrested and has already entered prison. The woman had two children.
From the Department of Equality of Benidorm City Council have recalled that the telephone number 016 serves all victims of sexist violence 24 hours a day, in 52 languages. It does not leave a trace on the telephone bill but it is advisable to delete it from the call log of mobile phones. In addition, the Department makes available to women who feel threatened all municipal public services and their specialized staff.
