Benidorm has today condemned a new case of sexist violence, which occurred on this occasion in the nearby town of Moraira, where a 59-year-old man has ended the life of his partner, a 34-year-old woman, after which he threw the body in a container. This midday at the gates of the City Council, a minute of silence has been observed in memory of the victim, who has headed the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor for Equality, Angela Zaragozí, in which members of the Corporation, municipal workers and neighbors have participated.
With this new case, there are already 11 women murdered in Spain in a month and a half, and 1,044 since the victims began to be counted in 2003. In addition to condemning this crime, the Department of Equality has reminded women that are going through a situation of abuse that the City Council has services and personnel specialized in gender violence. In addition, at national level there is a telephone number of attention to victims of gender violence, 016, which listens in 52 languages and leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is recommended to delete it from the call log.
