With a silent rally, Benidorm has condemned today the fourth sexist crime registered in Spain since the beginning of 2022. In the rally, held at Plaza SSMM Reyes de España and headed by the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, members of the Corporation and neighbours who have shown their rejection of this new murder, which brings to 1,130 the number of women murdered by their partners or former partners since 2003.

This latest case of gender violence occurred last Saturday in Martorell (Barcelona). Around 11:00 a.m., the police were alerted by residents of a building about a man with a suspicious attitude in the building's parking lot. Arriving at the scene, the agents found that the man was wounded, with bloody clothes and disoriented. Already at the individual's home, they found the body of a 51-year-old woman, the man's partner.

Immediately, the man was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crime, which has been confirmed as a new case of sexist violence by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence.

The Department of Equality has recalled that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who needs it.

Likewise, it insists that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to eliminate it from the mobile call log. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and in 52 languages.
