The City Council will finish this week the new roundabout on Ibiza street that will improve traffic and accessibility in the area

Benidorm concludes the conditioning of a plot in Salt de l'Aigua as a park-and-ride parking space for about 4,000 vehicles

Benidorm City Council has completed the cleaning and conditioning of a 17,000 square meter plot located in the Salt de l'Aigüa that will be used as a park-and-ride parking space next to the main vehicle access to the city.

This plot had been used to stockpile materials for municipal works. However, once these works were completed and the area was cleaned, uncontrolled dumping of debris began to take place “which created an image that disfigured the surroundings as it was the main entrance and access to many sports and educational facilities in the city.

“With this action, we have cleaned and cleared the entrance to Benidorm, an area where the schools, Invattur, the Bus Station, the Palace of Justice, the Fire Station, etc. are located. and that before it was a rubble dump" explained the Councilor for Mobility José Ramón González de Zárate, who also detailed that the aforementioned plot "is already prepared to house a large park and ride in the Levante area with capacity for about 3,000 or 4,000 vehicles”.

After the intervention to condition the land, vehicles can now park there for free, although the will is to host a large dissuasive parking lot with services in the future "for which the request has already been made to the Ministry of Public Works".

In this sense, González de Zárate has pointed out that the plot will be asphalted and that it can be used as a large-capacity car park "for large events such as the Low Festival". "So far, what we have already done is improve the image of the entrance to Benidorm, which had been very deteriorated, and uncontrolled dumping is avoided again."

The execution period for this intervention has been around a month and the investment made has risen to 48,248 euros.
On the other hand, the City Council will also finish this week the new roundabout that is being built at the confluence of Ibiza, Philippines and Almirante Bernat de Sarrià streets. "The milling has already been done and today the asphalting will be finished," said the councillor, who added that "this week the painting of the area will also be done and the action will be concluded".

According to González de Zárate, “it will be a very important improvement in the mobility of this place because four lugs have also been made for the accessibility of pedestrians in an area that has many hotels and British tourists, many of whom move in chairs. wheelchairs and vehicles with reduced mobility and now they will see that the area is much more accessible”.
