On 13 October, the winning city will be chosen in Dublin. Benidorm competes with Tampere (Finland) and Koper (Slovenia)
This evening the presentation of the candidacy of Benidorm to host the ITF Taekwon-do World Cup to be held in 2020 has taken place in the City Hall. The tourist capital of the Costa Blanca will defend its candidacy on 13 October at the International Congress of Taekwon-do Federation World Campionships in Dublin, Ireland, where he will compete with the cities of Tampere (Finland) and Koper (Slovenia).
During the event promotional videos have been presented that will support the candidacy of Benidorm and have intervened the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo; and the president of Club Tae Benidorm, Francisco Ferrando, the entity that promotes the candidacy. Among the audience the councillors of Culture, Ana Pellicer, and Major Events, José Ramón González de Zárate, were present.
Toni Pérez has said that this candidacy "is a question of city" in which "many people and institutions have collaborated". The mayor has shown all his support, and the one of the municipal corporation that presides, to the aspirations sponsored by Tae Benidorm Club because for Benidorm it has "a fundamental importance" to support "our athletes" and tell the world "that Benidorm is here. "
Pérez has reflected that the city "can offer everything and in better conditions than anyone" and has emphasized "one of our values": the Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm, that when it was designed it was thought to "meet the demand of the basic sport" and with a view to build a facility "that very few cities, none of the size of Benidorm, can offer." The mayor has highlighted the great illusion in the project that Club Tae has been able to "inject" its political representatives and society as a whole.
In the promotion of the candidacy of Benidorm for the celebration of the World Cup of 2020 join forces as significant collaborators as Terra Mítica, Aqualandia or Terra Natura; the associations Abreca-Cobreca and Hosbec, and Fundación Visit Benidorm.
