Benidorm commemorates Asturias Day
The House of Asturias de la Marina Baixa celebrates the Day of Asturias with the third edition of the Cider Contest and the commemoration of the festival of the Virgin of Covadonga, the official Day of the Principality, which takes place on September 8 and which, for calendar reasons, it was moved to yesterday evening in Benidorm.
Somewhat late on schedule, the president of the House Asturias, Geli Amores, welcomed the attendees concentrated in the Óscar Esplá auditorium in the Parque de l'Aigüera, hundreds of residents from the Principality and sympathizers from all over the region.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, attended the event to greet the representatives of the entity. The councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, together with other councilors and the provincial deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate.
Among those present, were representatives of the regional houses and festive groups. Among them, the Major and Child queens of the Festes Majors Patronals 2022, Aila Merenciano and Chloe D'Hebroodt, accompanied by the vice president Juan Pedro López and members of the board of directors of the Associació de Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge', with its president, Adrián Romero, at the head.
The most emotional moment of the celebration was experienced during the exaltation of the Senior and Children's 'Xanas' of the House of Asturias, Inés Castañón and Rocío Rodríguez who took the stage accompanied by the Rusadir pipers from Sant Vicent del Raspeig. The proclamation was then read by Belén Richarte and, with posterity, the until recently president of the entity, Ramón Carrillo Tebar, was appointed Pelayo de Honor.
The act ended with the interpretation of the hymns of Asturias, Benidorm and Valencia, which gave way to the end of the party with musical performances and the Cider Contest.
