Benidorm commemora el 8M amb activitats adaptades a les restriccions sanitàries...

This morning the main balcony of Benidorm City Council shows a commemorative banner for the celebration of March 8, International Women's Day, a day of vindication to fight for full equality of rights between men and women around the world .

At 10.00 in the morning, the municipal corporation, with the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí in the lead, all together in silence, under the commemorative banner. The mayor has pointed out that since "this year we find ourselves in a special situation due to the health crisis we are experiencing, from this City Council we have decided to change the focus of activities" to make it "virtual and on social networks" in order to avoid crowds of people and open ourselves to other areas ”

The Council has programmed, in collaboration with the women's associations of Benidorm, an intense program of activities that have been taking place since March 4, "because we are very aware that March 8 is not just a day", That is why a program has been planned "that will last throughout the month".

The activities began - Zaragozí recalled - with the presentation of Anémona Equality Plan (Self-help Group for Women with Cancer), in Onda Benidorm radio program 'Femenino plural', at noon and the screening of the documentary 'Camino to empowerment 'in a telematic call organized by Memba (Business Women of the Marina Baixa), already in the afternoon ”.

Today, March 8, in addition to the placement of the banner, all the Secondary Education Institutes (IES) in the city have scheduled informational and protest events. The City Council has supported the regional action of 'Les balconades', putting canvases on all municipal buildings on which each population has put their own 'hastaghs' because although “we should not go out into the street, the fight is seen and that Benidorm supports this day, ”said Zaragozí.

In the social network TikTok the audiovisual contest 'Rolling for equality' is being developed "where we believe that we can reach a lot of people", in collaboration with the Regional Council for Equality that brings together the Department of Equality of the Marina Baixa and the participation of Benidorm Youth Council.

The day will end “with the telematic projection of a commemorative video of the Housewives. Likewise, in tribute to women and her struggle, "this afternoon Benidorm will be dyed in lilac, illuminating Tosssal, Castell and the Town Hall itself," the mayor announced. P>

Finally, from the 23rd of this month and until the 23rd of April, the posters made by the students of the Second Year of Artistic Bachelor of the IES Pere Maria Orts i Bosch will be exhibited in the Espai d'Art of the Town Hall against gender violence.
