Toni Pérez values the great contribution of the 'benimanchegos' who came here "to give everything"
Benidorm celebrates the day of Castilla-La Mancha
The Castilian-La Mancha regional houses of Benidorm today celebrated the day of Castilla-La Mancha, an event that commemorates the constitution of its Regional Courts and, on this occasion, coincides with the fortieth anniversary of its statute of autonomy, which officially takes place on 31 of May.
The act, in which the councilor for Employment, Health, Environment and Administrative Extensions, Mónica Gómez, has been the maintainer, began at noon in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, with the presence of the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, who, along with other members of the corporation, formed the institutional representation that closed the provincial deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate.
Also present were the president of the Casa de La Mancha in Benidorm and region, Loren Torres; her godmother, Sandra Alarcón, along with some of her ladies; in addition to the president of the Tramontana Association, Honorio Fornier. On behalf of the Festes Majors Patronals, its president, José Vicente Fuster, has attended.
The Tramontana folkloric group has been the first to perform, interpreting a few seguidillas from La Mancha, a jota and a mayo, before giving the floor to the maintainer.
In her speech, Mónica Gómez said of this region that it is "culturally as rich as unrepeatable in so many aspects of the life and character of its countrymen." Gómez has defined La Mancha as a "community rich in towns... that today values its identity" with the celebration of its big day. And more so in Benidorm, where the 'benimanchegos' have known how to "integrate" their traditions and customs.
Gómez has also thanked the original population of this region who, when they return to their land, know how to transfer "the love you feel for Benidorm, its traditions and the happiness that you have found here".
Next, the regional houses of La Mancha have awarded their outstanding members and then the Group of Choirs and Dances 'El Trillo' from Albacete has started the second musical performance, a sonorous review of La Mancha folklore. Later the presidents of the House of La Mancha and Tramontana have greeted.
To finish, Toni Pérez addressed the attendees "representing the entire town of Benidorm" to "give thanks" to this community. Who "we know as 'benimanchegos', a term attributed to Pedro Zaragoza", who was mayor of the city, who, precisely, this year celebrates the centenary of his birth.
The mayor has valued "the semblance of traditional music" that unites the folklores of La Mancha and the Valencian Community "much more than many believe" with instruments such as the dulzaina, "our 'dolçaina or xirimita'". And, above all, Toni Pérez, has valued the "great contribution" of the character of the people from this region "who have been here giving everything" and helped shape the Benidorm in which we live today in the future.
