The mayor, who has planted with the young some specimens, has emphasized "the green" with which the area stands out, the result of a "task of more than 12 years attending this plantation" and also "sharing a magnificent morning of nature and coexistence ”with the students.
The celebration of Arbor Day aims to highlight "the importance of caring for, protecting and pampering our environment," said Toni Pérez, especially "the one that is closest to our urban environment." The mayor valued the initiative very positively because it promotes "awareness and awareness" among the youngest population regarding "the importance of taking care of nature and our planet."
The students, in groups, have done a collective work where the important thing was not the quantity of repopulated species, but the quality of the work done to guarantee their subsistence. In this sense, the Environment and Education technicians, during the previous days have made talks in schools to explain how to do the work to get the best results.
On this day, students from Leonor Canalejas and Serra Gelanda have planted around three hundred seedlings of Esparto (Macrochloa tenacissima), Palmito (Chamaerops Humilis), lentisclo (Pistacea Lentisco), Algarrobo (Ceratonia Siliqua) and Ephedra (Ephedra fragilis) .
